About Derek Smith:
Nationally renowned paper and environmental expert, and advisor on
business opportunities that exist in environmental reform.

Former Chairman and CEO of the largest paper merchanting group in
Southern Africa. The group included merchanting, converting and printing
companies.

Former director of one of the major packaging groups in South Africa and
served on several other boards.

Member of the British-South Africa "man to man" committee, which
oversaw British investment in South Africa.

One of the most important experiences of his career was the social
restructuring of the companies for which he was responsible in the years
before and after the collapse of apartheid in South Africa.

Has worked in Europe, the United States and Southern Africa, and has
extensive experience in trade and commerce in the Far East Europe and
South America.

Worked with the American Forest and Paper Association.

Formed a consulting business which has advised the Forest Stewardship
Council (FSC), SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) the Metafore
Organization and leading paper, printing and design groups.

Today, he speaks, trains and consults around the country on the critical
need to accept the responsibility of environmental protection on a
personal, corporate and social basis through a clear understanding of the
implications of actions in the world of paper, print and design.
